I've seen various "Thankful Thursday" link ups around the blogosphere, but since I already have Wedding Wednesday and Friday Favorites bookending Thursday, I felt that three themed days in a row would be a bit much. But today, for some reason, I feel drawn to express my complete gratitude and awe toward my God and all of the things He has given me.
If you aren't religious, you may just chalk it up to good luck, hard work, or sensibility. But, having known the ins and outs of my life, I can certainly say that I have been truly blessed.
In the two years (and two months) that my husband and I have been married, we have honestly never truly been in need of anything. And, for the most part, never in want. As of now, we are completely debt free, including school loans. We have always had a place to live that meets our needs and have always have work when we wanted it. The longest time I have been without work in our marriage was a month and a half, and that was mostly by choice. We have never even really come close to living pay check to pay check and have enough in savings to give us a cushion. Both Justin and I have iPhones and Mac Book Pros. I have a DSLR, a small video camera, and a sewing machine. Justin has also been able to acquire multiple "toys" (guns) in the last year. To say that we have what we want would be an understatement.
With less than a month left until we move to Oregon, we already have a condo ready for us to move into that is right next to the church Justin will be working at. Many people have offered to help us with whatever we need. Even though pursuing a low-paying internship that only guarantees work for a year is a risk, we have already been so blessed by it!
As for me, I have a great husband who will let me spend hours every day sewing and blogging in hopes of eventually making this a full time job. Even though it has been slow going, he has been patient and understanding every step of the way. I also have great in-laws who not only let us live with them during a transitional period in our marriage, but have also encouraged Justin and I in our pursuit of ministry and my self-employment.
My parents, sister, grandparents, and general extended family have also been very supportive and generous in finances and prayers. Honestly, as much as I complain to some, my life is incredible. I have no serious health problems, family that gives me great Christian attitudes to model myself after, and enough time and support to enjoy my hobbies. I am extremely blessed.
What are some things that you are thankful for or have been taking for granted recently?
