By The Way...

I am out-of-state right now and honestly, I just don't feel like posting anything while here. So, have a great weekend and I will hopefully post something on Tuesday! Here are a few words to hopefully inspire your weekend. :)

I Hope You Aren't Sick of Thailand

Because we have more! About a week ago, I posted a few pictures from my parents' (and sister's and grandparents' and others') trip to Thailand and Cambodia. Well, just a few days later, they posted some awesome pictures from such a fun thing they got to do! I wanted to post it right away, but figured leaving a little bit of time in between Thailand posts would be better.

I think they get back today? I don't know. It's kind of amazing how disconnected you become from your family's schedule when you live a state away. :) Anyway, check out this great opportunity they had to do something you pretty much can't do in the United States!

That one is my favorite! My mom said that the baby elephant's trunk even made the "kissing" sound. :)

How fun would this be? Seriously? Not only did they get to ride on the backs of elephants, they did in a Southeast Asian setting. Crazy! Of course, it's not always so pretty. My dad shared a little snippet of this story after the elephant ride:

"Just minutes before we rode the elephants, we saw two Japanese guy fall to the ground off their elephant when it became obstinate and the 'saddle' shifted. One got a nice cut on his head. We all stayed on our beasts until the scheduled dismount, thankfully."

Even with that "risk," I would still totally do this in a heartbeat! What is the craziest thing you have done when traveling?

Wedding Wednesday: Woodsy Bohemian

I found this beautiful wedding over at Green Wedding Shoes. It is definitely different than last week's tea party theme, but there are a lot of things I really love about it! Check it out!

Announcement Time!

I was going to wait to announce this until I was ready to launch my Etsy shop, but I have decided that I want to share this process with all of you! Many changes are going to be coming to this blog soon, and I though I'd let you all get in on the ground floor, so to speak. :)

I am excited to announce my vision for my small business, Uncommonplace! I've been working on this vision and have started the planning process already.

The first phase of my business is more familiar to most of you. From now until mid-May to early June, I will be more intentional about this blog. Mostly more original content in general. Wedding Wednesday will stick around, as will Currently Obsessing Over (for now). Then, when I get my act together, in May or June, will be the official launch of my Etsy shop! I will be selling classic, handmade home and wedding accessories. I've already started on a few of these projects and am so excited about this!

The second phase of Uncommonplace will be officially launched in a year to year-and-a-half, depending on funding. However, I will start prepping for this phase immediately. I will be offering my services as an interior decorator and event planner! I have courses lined up so that I can be certified in both of these areas. That is what will take the most time before I can officially launch this phase. I am planning on using this time to build my portfolio. So I will be offering these services for free! If you have a room that needs a new look or an event that needs a handmade touch and you are in the Boise area, let me know!

This plan has already started to go into action, starting with the launch of the new Facebook Page and a new Twitter account. If you are on these social media sites regularly, I would appreciate it so much if you would "like" or "follow" Uncommonplace. :)

Within the next few days, there will also be some new tabs at the top that will be focused more on the business aspect of this blog. But don't worry, my goal through this blog will still be to share life and inspiration, not just to further my business!

I am ridiculously excited about this new phase in my life and love having a way to share it with others! If you have any encouraging words or advice, please don't hesitate to let me know! And keep coming back to see the big changes that will be coming soon!

A Spring Evening Barbecue

Happy Monday! For me, it hardly feels like a Monday. No school, and although I do have work, it's less than six hours today! I'm planning on getting as much done as I can. I've resolved to make this break a productive one!

Over this last weekend, the husband and I went to his parents' house about 45 minutes away from Boise. Saturday evening, his mom decided that she wanted to have dinner out on their front lawn. She had done a lot of work that day making the flower beds out front look nice and she wanted to enjoy them! So she began to set up a few things in the yard and I didn't think much of it. But when I went out for dinner and saw how completely adorable everything was, I grabbed my camera and started snapping away. It was at a perfect time to take pictures too and I love how these all came out!

Currently Obsessing Over...[Spring Break Edition!]

Oh hey there spring break! You crept up on me so fast that I hardly saw you coming. But I am SO glad you are here! Seriously.

Sorry that I've been missing in action a bit this week. School has been crazy. But! Only four weeks of actual school until I graduate! Less than six weeks now until I actually walk across that stage and get my diploma showing that I endured four years of college. Ugh. Soooo close.

Anyway, this week, I'm totally in a Spring Break/Summer mood. The weather has been just nice enough to tease me and now I am getting super anxious for sun, shorts, and flip flops! So here are the things I am currently obsessing over. :)

1. Gardening - Living in an apartment with very few opportunities for growing anything has been so frustrating! Even out on our patio, we never get sunlight (even the dirt infront of it stays muddy for way too long). I'm really hoping that when we move this summer, there will be a better set up for this kind of thing. Maybe I could even find a spot for this little beauty somewhere?

2. Travel Bags - Our June Disneyland trip is getting closer and closer but I still haven't figured out what bag I'm going to take. I would love to make a bag to take so that I can modify it exactly how I want. But I'm going to have to figure this out pretty soon. Here are a few tutorials that I'm looking at. Which one is your favorite?

3. This DIY Picnic Blanket from Twig and Thistle. This is so cute and cheap and easy! Why not do it? Spring Break seems to kind of kick off picnic season, and I couldn't be happier! I love going on picnics and Boise has some great parks downtown for picnicking.

4. Old Navy Flip Flops - Okay, these things are kind of my guilty pleasure when it comes to spring/summer attire. I know they may not be the most adorable shoes, but at $4.00 a piece, I love to get them in fun colors and pair them with a simple outfit. :) Here are a few of my favorite colors.
